| Meet King and Queenie - just in time for Mardi Gras! Yes, we understand that these two dogs do not look like they are in any way appropriate for a celebration. They were pulled from a Louisiana shelter after being confiscated for animal abuse. We understand that the owner went to jail and his wife or girlfriend did not feed the dogs. Queenie is such a petite little thing that she has already begun to look better but King obviously has a long way to go. Both dogs were near death when they were rescued. The silver lining is that they were rescued alive and will now hopefully have a chance at a better life. They are being fed small meals every few hours. Both dogs are heartworm positive and intact, probably used for breeding purposes to line the pockets of the people who did this to them. All medical treatments will be delayed until they have sufficiently recovered from malnourishment. So while you might feel that there is nothing to celebrate in these two dog's pictures - please understand that King and Queenie are the happiest dogs in the world right now. They have people who love them, a warm soft bed to sleep in and food every time they turn around. They have wonderful temperaments and are very loving dogs. While south Louisiana celebrates our wonderful Mardi Gras season, our little Doberman community have selected our King and Queen of Mardi Gras. From very horrible conditions they are now Royalty. If you would like to make a donation for food and medical expenses for our King and Queen, you may do so thru our pay pal button or by sending a check to Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue, P. O. Box 231051, Harahan, LA 70183. Please watch for updates about King and Queenie. |
